The interview lasted over two hours and saw the Tesla CEO speaking with Rogan about a range of subjects, including the dangers of artificial intelligence and the problems with discourse on social media platforms.

Rogan explained to Musk that the object in hand was a mixture of tobacco and marijuana, describing it as "perfect and balanced". Rogan asked, noting that Musk probably had not "because of stockholders".

"It's legal right?" Musk asked, before Rogan said it was "totally legal" and the entrepreneur took a drag of the cigarette.

But Musk replies, "I mean, it's legal, right?" On Rogan's podcast, Musk made news by apparently taking a hit off Rogan's marijuana.

Tesla Inc. (TSLA) shares dropped down to their lowest point in almost six months today amid a lawsuit made by a short-seller who is suing the vehicle company over claims that they lied to investors about taking TSLA private.

The episode also raised concern about Musk's health. "It just wasn't the way I operate", he said. Not only did Musk not have any kind of written funding deal, many Tesla investors saw little upside in approving a deal that would reduce Tesla's transparency and the liquidity of Tesla stock.

"I think the future in where we are a space-faring civilization out there among the stars, that is very exciting", Musk said.

CNBC reported Friday afternoon that Morton was concerned with CEO Elon Musk's lack of attention to the accounting details surrounding a transaction to take Tesla private. Musk has said he stands by his initial tweet about the company going private.

Tesla shares fell as much as 10% to $252.25 as of 9.46am in NY, the steepest intra-day drop since June 2016.

"A lot of people don't like humanity and think it is a blight, but I don't", he said.

Musk has admitted that running an electric auto and energy company like Tesla is exhausting, and in an interview with the New York Times last month, Musk stated that anyone who could do a better job can take over for him anytime.

Musk's Twitter followers went into a frenzy following the podcast, with user @jkmcnk writing:"Elon getting high on weed and whiskey is the first reason to go long on $TSLA in a while. I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission, and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting", Morton was quoted as saying.
