Serena Williams hits out again at drug testing ‘discrimination’

This would mark the sixth time she has been drug tested this year, and comes just weeks after Deadspin found that she is the most-tested tennis player.

Following a complaint with regards to repeated testing, Williams appears to be claiming, with proof attached, that she is being singled out and tested at a far higher rate than her counterparts. According to the United States Anti-Doping Agency's public athlete testing history database, she was also tested three times in 2017 and six times in 2016.

"Discrimination? I think so, " the U.S. tennis star wrote, before adding: "At least I'll be keeping the sport clean".

"Until I read that article I didn't realise it was such a discrepancy with me as well as against the other players that they listed, at least the American players - both male and female".

In a second post, she confirms this take.

Last month, rumours that an anti-doping agent occupied Serena Williams' property swirled, adding fuel to the fire that the tennis star was being unfairly treated.

"Just test everyone equally", Williams said on the eve of this year's Wimbledon, where she lost to Angelique Kerber in the final.

Venus is now ranked World No.14, and is a five-time Wimbledon champion as well as twice victor of the US Open.

A report published by website Deadspin in June revealed Williams had already been tested on five occasions in 2018 while other American players had been tested once or not at all.

The Wimbledon runner-up took to Twitter on Tuesday night after she received another visit from a tester.

The 23-time Grand Slam victor had previously described her treatment by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) as shocking and raised questions about the number of times she had been tested this year.

"Tennis has given me so much".

She said: "How is it I'm getting tested five times in June?" If that's testing everyone five times, let's do it. "Just due to the numbers, it looks like I'm being pushed out".
