Corey Lewandowski tweeted on Wednesday that he "mocked a liberal who attempted to politicize children" after he appeared Tuesday on Fox News Channel to discuss President Trump's hard-line immigration policy.

"Womp womp", Lewandowski callously responded. "How absolutely dare you, sir!"

"I don't know the young girl", Lewandowski said.

In addition to being ousted as Trump's campaign manager, Lewandowski was charged with battery in March 2016 for assaulting a reporter; accused of touching the singer Joy Villa without her consent; and spent a lot of time on cable television as the administration's cheerleader.

"When you cross the border illegally, you have given up the rights of this country", the former campaign manager said, adding that parents crossing the border should understand that their children will be taken.

Fox host Sandra Smith circled back, asking generically about the level of "rhetoric" in discussions of family separation at our border.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, left, shakes hands with Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray during a photo opportunity at their joint press conference in Mexico City, Monday, March 26, 2018.

"Did you just say "wah wah" to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome being taken from her mother?"

The children's father, a legal United States resident, is working with the Mexican consulate to get them released, Mexican foreign minister Luis Videgaray told CNN.

The National Down Syndrome Society said in a post on its Facebook page that they are working with the appropriate authorities to ensure the girl receives all of the resources necessary to "help comfort her until she can be reunited with her father and eventually her whole family, where she belongs". Videgaray said that the girl is in McAllen, Texas, while the mother was taken to a center in Brownsville, Texas.

Commentators, pundits, people like Lewandowski - not to mention fully empowered representatives of the president - have been polluting the airwaves with their lies and claptrap about how family separation isn't, in fact, a policy; about how this is merely a case of the White House following the law; and so on.
