Chad Morris Reportedly Hired As Next Head Coach

SMU head coach Chad Morris is the leading candidate to fill the open vacancy at Arkansas as their next football coach in Fayetteville.

While we can't independently confirm Arkansas and Morris have reached an agreement, ESPN has two reporters confirming the news.

Morris had a 14-22 record in three seasons rebuilding the program at SMU.

Crowe, who had gone 5-15 at Livingston (now West Alabama), had a 9-15 record at Arkansas, including a loss to The Citadel in the 1992 season opener, the Razorbacks' first game as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Before his arrival at SMU, Morris spent four seasons as Dabo Swinney's offensive coordinator at Clemson, where he helped land Deshaun Watson.

Arkansas' search began without an athletic director; Jeff Long was also fired last month.

Bielema was sacked after the Razorbacks went 4-8 this season.

Previously, he served as offensive coordinator at Clemson and was a successful high school coach in Texas. Morris agreed to a $21 million contract to be Arkansas' head coach for six years. Now that SMU program is going to a bowl game and I think they're in the top 10 in the country in scoring offense.

Morris inherited a major rebuild at SMU, which went 1-11 the year before he arrived. "I am pleased that Hunter Yurachek had the opportunity to be involved in the final decision and offer and we can not wait to have Chad leading our program".
