Mostly quiet weekend weather for Central New York

Then, the coldest air so far this season arrives Wednesday through Friday, with highs generally in the 40s and lows in the 20s thanks to a deep upper trough over the eastern half of the United States.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy skies and lingering rain showers continue, with a low of 38 degrees. Mostly sunny across the area today.

Sunday the clouds move in with some gusty winds out of the south. Temperatures will still be warm in the upper 50s. Friday will see a mix of clouds and sun with temperatures only in the low 40s. As we look ahead to the next seven days, our weather pattern becomes active.

Colder air now in northern Canada looks to break away and move into our area by mid-week.

Monday: Sunshine. Highs in the mid to upper 40s. We'll see a lot more clouds and a 30 percent chance for spotty light showers through the day.

A slow-moving cold front will bring rain Wednesday with highs hitting mid 50s before the front passes. Fair skies will remain in place and it'll be a good day to do some yard chores or to put up holiday decorations. Winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the high school playoff games this evening, the sky will be mostly fair with temperatures falling through the 50s.

The first part of December is likely to feature temperatures around or above average, but it may turn much colder the second part of the month. A few stronger storms will be possible to go along with heavy rain.
