Police made 'dog's breakfast' of Aarushi case: Omar Abdullah

The High Court acquitted Aarushi's parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar of all criminal charges.

The 263-page verdict ends, at least for now, the nine- year ordeal of the Noida couple who were sentenced to life by a Ghaziabad CBI court on November 28, 2013 for the double murder that not only transfixed but also shook the nation with its element of filicide. In a rare interview that Nupur Talwar had given from the jail almost two years back, Ms Talwar had spoken about her plans to work in the non-profit sector once she was released, whenever she was released. The needle of suspicion had initially moved towards 45-year-old Hemraj, who had gone missing but his body was recovered from the terrace of the house two days later. "We have suffered a lot for nearly ten years", she said while addressing the media.

According to the news agency ANI, the Allahabad High Court was of the view that as per circumstances and evidence on record, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar can't be held guilty.

"At my age, it was very trying for me to see my daughter and son-in-law behind the bars for the crime they did not commit".

# Defence counsel Tanveer Ahmed Mir says the release will take a little time as the judgment needs to be released and an order sent to the jail housing the Talwars.

The trial court had stated 26 points of evidence on the basis of which it found the couple guilty. "We are awaiting for the detailed judgement copy". The chain of evidence they have showcased is inconclusive. The couple were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2013 for murdering their daughter Aarushi and the domestic help Hemraj.

The Allahabad High Court is likely to pronounce the verdict at around 2 pm.

On May 16, 2008, Aarushi was found murdered inside her bedroom in the flat in Jal Vayu Vihar - her throat slit with surgical precision.

After the state police failed to crack the case, the then UP chief minister Mayawati recommended a CBI probe to resolve the murder mystery.
