Liverpool angered by Barcelona's latest claims over Coutinho

'We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request, ' Grau said.

The on-going saga relating to the possibility of Philippe Coutinho joining Barcelona continues to rumble on.

News of a winter move would be odd considering Barcelona would still need to beat the offers said to have been made in the summer.

The Brazil global missed the start of the season with injury, but has scored three goals on his return to action for Jurgen Klopp's men.

From Barcelona's point of view, the Brazilian will be cup-tied in the Champions League, which means there will be little value in signing a player they can not feature in their most important competition.

In the same deal, Coutinho also positively received option of him to keep playing with Liverpool in the Champions League although later he will be a cup-tie status with Barcelona.

Liverpool fought off the attentions of Barcelona for Coutinho's signature, with three bids being rejected over the summer.

"I would be gobsmacked if they consider doing business in January, absolutely gobsmacked".

Coutinho had his heart set on moving to Barca and handed in a transfer request on August 11; Liverpool, however, insisted they would not give him his wish and warned Barcelona to stay away.

However, there is no indication of what such a bid would be although the report does suggests it would be similar to those lodged during summer, thought to be €110m, of which €80m was paid up front. Let us know in the comments section below!
