Vegas shooting probe uncovers Boston references

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said authorities will be stepping up security for concerts and sporting events following the shooting in Las Vegas. As CrimeOnline previously reported, Paddock made reservations at Chicago's Blackstone Hotel for the weekend of the Lalapalooza music festival, and specifically requested the two rooms he reserved to have views of the main stage.

According to ABC News, Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock searched for hotels near Fenway Park.

NBC News reported that Paddock researched hotels around Fenway Park, according to an anonymous law enforcement official.

Paddock, who officials believe had an escape planned, fatally shot himself as a SWAT team descended on his hotel room.

"We have a lot of work to do", FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe told reporters on Wednesday. He did not, however, travel to Chicago nor did he book a hotel room near Fenway Park.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter bats in the 1st inning during a game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston, Sept. 28, 2014.

"We just have information that he was on possible sites looking at Boston there's nothing to indicate he made it here or he ever stepped foot in Boston".

Gov. Charlie Baker reiterated that there is no evidence of any threat to MA at the moment and that Las Vegas officials are the primary source of information.

Paddock's potential targets also included the most recent Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, which was held August 3 to August 6 in Grant Park, the officials said.

Paddock ultimately chose the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and the Route 91 Harvest festival as the place to carry out his rampage, which killed 58 people and injured more than 500.

It became clear pretty quickly that the shooter, Stephen Paddock, had put significant planning into the attack.
