The Tennessee Titans kick returner showed off his impressive speed and moves on a return after the Raiders went up 23-13 in the season opener, but it was a jump on the play that got everyone in the stands (and watching on television at home) off of their feet nearly as high as he got.

The Raiders' transition to Tavecchio will be somewhat easier on holder/punter Marquette King since the former Bear is left-footed, like Janikowski. The only player on the active roster who was with the team before Davis died in October 2011 is long snapper Jon Condo. He's 9-for-11 on field goals in the preseason. Janikowski returned for the playoffs the following year.

On Sept. 4, Rapoport reported the Raiders were "concerned" about Janikowski's back due to his age (39), adding he was "slow to bounce back". He has never attempted a field goal in a regular season game.

His 55 field goals of at least 50 yards are an National Football League record. Oakland could choose to designate him as one of two players to return from injured reserve this season.
